Job Duties

Position Overview:

Polish, assemble, and prepare injection molds for the molding process.

The hours for this position are: Thursday 12:00am -6:00am, Friday and Saturday 6:00pm-6:00am, Sunday 8:00pm-6:00am

Specific Duties Include:

Prepare injection molds for build process; de-burring mold halves and ejector plates, drilling and tapping holes, grinding sprue pullers, cutting guide pins, cutting ejector pins, drilling tunnel and post gates

Assemble mold for molding process

Polishing mold halves – bringing surfaces to specified finish level

Perform mold specific build functions, such as contouring ejector pins, fly-cutting backs of molds (typically B-side), venting ejector pins, adding parting line vents, making Z pullers and keys, installing repair plugs

Fit and assemble cams

Calibrate pin cutter

Perform mold specific build functions, such as manually adding support pillars, adding stationary B-side pins, adding ejector pins, add A-side vent pins, adding steel core pins

Identify and solve mold issues

Address and resolve reworks

Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.

Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.

Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.

Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.

Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Advanced mold preparation skills, for example: calibrating pin cutter, manually adding support pillars, fly-cutting backs of molds (typically B-side)

Identify and solve mold issues

Evaluate, address, resolve reworks and write rework flags as assigned

Inspection

Minimum Qualifications:

Proven mechanical aptitude

Experience with measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gages)

Experience with power tools used in a metalworking shop (drill press experience a plus)

Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects, such as but not limited to, hobby knives, utility knives, pliers

Able to use a computer, calculator and do basic arithmetic

Able to read and write in English

Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment

Must be punctual and have good attendance

Good written and oral communication skills. Strong attention to detail

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent degree

Physical Demands: Stand for the entire shift. Lift up to 70 pounds waist high, carry up to 70 pounds alone. Essential job duties require reaching, bending, and grasping. Able to read machine-shop gages and indicators.

Work Environment: Indoors (generally air-conditioned but with occasional temperatures up to 85 degrees F or down to 65 degrees F); non-smoking; production; eye protection & safety shoes required.
