Job Description

Job Summary:

The Concrete Finisher smooths and finishes surfaces of poured concrete, such as driveways, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Will align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters. Involves physical labor such as shoveling, raking concrete, and heavy lifting. May be required to drive trucks and other moving equipment. Attention to detail and the ability to work safely and efficiently is a priority.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to use wooden and aluminum screed to level surfaces;

  • Knowledge of concrete tools such as float, towel, edgers, brooms, and etc.

  • Sets up forms with proper pitch and depth in which concrete is poured to create sidewalks, walls, pillars, and other structures:

  • Properly cleans and strips forms;

  • Must be able to accurately judge slump, including the proper calculating and ordering of concrete;

  • Maintains a clean job site, picks up all tools and equipment, and secures job site daily to eliminate potential hazards;

  • Introduces rebar or wire mesh to reinforce the material and installs expansion joints;

  • Saw cuts concrete and asphalt;

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in in heavy highway and other construction projects;

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task;

  • Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times; and

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
