Job Details

The Assistant Materials Coordinator is responsible for ordering and stocking all supplies needed in Central Sterile and Endoscopy, maintaining adequate par levels of all supplies in both areas. In addition he/she must maintain the records of Central Sterile Performance Improvement and IUSS utilization reports. Coordinates and maintains instrumentation repairs. He/she will assist the Logistics Manager with other tasks when assigned, including technician functions such as; decontaminating instruments, prepping and packing, sterilization and distribution.

Assistant Materials Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Maintains adequate amounts of sterile and unsterile supplies within the departments at all times.

  • Maintains appropriate par levels.

  • Checks all supply inventory daily, placing and receiving orders as necessary.

  • When receiving – Storeroom documentation is matched to department requisition for accuracy and completeness.

  • Self manages or escalates delivery discrepancies and/or on-arrival damaged product.

  • Promptly notifies appropriate care center when special orders are received.

  • Routinely checks supplies for expiration dates and reprocesses or discards as indicated.

  • Keeps supply storage areas clean, organized and easy to navigate.

  • Secures needed supplies by any means necessary, including borrowing from another entity and possibly personally retrieving the items.

  • Reviews O.R. IUSS records daily and logs information on spreadsheet.

  • Compiles monthly Central Sterile Performance Improvement data and records on the appropriate documents.

  • Daily review of returned tray lists for quality concerns and/or missing instrumentation.

  • Receives and records O.R. expired items when appropriate.

  • Facilitates instrument repairs by obtaining a PO for broken item, contacts repair company to obtain a return authorization, packages and prepares item for shipping then brings package to shipping department.

  • Received repairs should be inspected, logged and given to the staff to put back in service.

  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward patients, families, and staff.

  • Provides an atmosphere which is customer driven and customer focused.

  • Demonstrates respect for the cultural and religious diversities and needs of the patients, families, and staff.

  • Maintains a positive and supportive attitude toward the mission and goals of Catholic Health Services.

  • Maintains a consistent pattern of attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and demonstrates flexibility within the assigned schedule.

  • Adheres to hospital/department dress code.

  • Utilizes principles of infection control and standard precaution in the performance of patient care activities.

  • Conforms to policies governing patient abuse, patient rights, and confidentiality of information.

  • Performs all related duties as required and unrelated duties as requested during emergencies

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Central Service areas preferred.

  • CRCST Certification preferred.

  • Medical terminology and medical supply knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, computer skills (Word & Excel), inventory management and procurement, organizational skills

Salary Range

USD $28.21 - USD $41.80 /Hr.

This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
