This role directly reports to Salad's head of communication with oversight from Salad's leadership team.

Salad Africa is looking for a junior brand designer to create visual design assets for social media, content marketing platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube, and website blog), and events (webinars, conferences, panels, etc)

The right candidate will work collaboratively with Salad's communications and storytelling team and will report to our head of communications and storytelling.

In this role, you will be responsible for creating a set number of design assets per month. You will be expected to manage your time, track your progress, and clearly communicate any blockers and dealers.

You are perfect for this role if you have experience designing visual assets for technology startups, fintechs, or B2B brands. We want to work with someone who can tell our business story through design.
Primary responsibilities
- Develop visual concepts and designs that align with a brand’s identity and meet the needs of the marketing team
- Present design concepts to the marketing team for review and feedback
- Work with Salad's social media and content calendar
- Turn in design drafts and work on iterations within a reasonable time frame
- Ensure that all designs are produced to the highest standards of quality and accuracy
- Design visual assets for events, webinars, speaking engagements, social media posts, and videos
- Design visual assets using Salad's existing brand guidelines and visual handbook
- Work asynchronously with our communications and storytelling team
Brand designer requirements
- Up to 2-5 years of experience as a brand designer in a full-time, part-time, or contract role
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Figma
- Experience creating cover images for LinkedIn, Youtube, Instagram reels, and short-form videos
- Ability to work with a lean startup team
- Experience in working with brand identity guidelines and colour palettes
- Experience in creating compelling visual designs for marketing materials, packaging, and digital assets
- Comfortable working with illustrations, visual elements, and multimedia content styles
- Commitment to reviewing and refining designs based on feedback to align with brand goals
- Multimedia design portfolio showcasing design skills and professional development
