Full job description
Job Duties
As an After-School Literacy Tutor, you will:

Build consistent, encouraging relationships with a small group of students.

Provide literacy tutoring to students in pairs using a structured instructional model.

Support approximately 10 students organized into five tutoring pairs.

Deliver consistent tutoring sessions throughout the week.

Use curriculum, instructional materials, and progress-monitoring tools provided through the program.

Help students strengthen foundational reading skills, including phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, and comprehension.

Communicate regularly with program and site contacts.

Maintain reliable attendance and fulfill all agreed-upon tutoring sessions.

Complete required orientation, training, and child-safety requirements.

Create an environment where students feel respected, capable, and excited to return.

The program model calls for each tutor to support approximately 10 students in five pairs, with students receiving tutoring three times each week.
Minimum Education Required
HS Diploma

An ability to deliver services using a structured instructional model.
Openness to program guidance, coaching, and feedback.
Experience working with children, education, literacy, tutoring, or community programs—or strong transferable skills and an aptitude for learning.
