Overview
History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 4,000 licensed EMT, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin with over 55 locations. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides the highest quality care in emergencies and scheduled medical transports.
EMS Customer Service Representative/Call Taker with day and night shifts available in Elmhurst, IL.
Responsibilities
The primary duties and responsibilities of the EMS Customer Service Representative consist of, but are not limited to the following:

Answer, screen, and direct calls for entire company

Distinguish the need for emergency transportation
-
Pre-arrange transport for facilities while determining the level of care needed for the patients
-
Arrange specialty and critical care transportation
-
Provide information and assistance for customer service inquires as needed
-
Communicate with multiple departments and EMS personal
-
Provide supportive information to customers to assist them in arranging appropriate transport
-
Develop effective solutions for customer service issues
-
Direct calls to Flight Desk as appropriate
-
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
-
Pleasant, professional phone manner
-
Detail oriented
-
Typing skills of 35 wpm or better
-
Ability to excel in high-stress environment
-
Adapt to frequently changing policies
-
Ability to learn policies and procedures for facilities and recognizing when to apply them
-
Medical background a plus
-
Must pass 2-3 weeks of training
-
EMD certification will be provided by Superior within 1 year of employment

High School Diploma or GED

Salary Range
USD $20.00 - USD $20.00 /Hr. rates offered based on years of experience and full time scheduled templates.
