Job Title: Controls Technician Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Controls Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, ensuring smooth operations. This role requires strong electrical troubleshooting skills, particularly up to 480v 3-phase, and a solid understanding of PLC functions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment.

  • Spend 60% of time addressing immediate issues, 25% on projects, and 15% mentoring junior technicians.

  • Read and interpret schematics and symbols, perform LOTO procedures, and use a multimeter.

  • Install and decommission equipment, modify PLC logic, and perform basic programming for cameras and vision systems.

  • Troubleshoot and verify instrumentation including limits, proxes, switches, photoeyes, sensors, and transducer/encoder feedback.

  • Replace and download/upload parameters for drives.

  • Access machinery remotely or via terminal/HMI for troubleshooting.

  • Train and develop maintenance technicians to enhance their problem-solving skills.

Essential Skills

  • 10+ years of Industrial Multi-craft Maintenance Experience.

  • 4-5+ years of experience as a Controls Technician or Electrician.

  • Ability to troubleshoot up to 480v 3-phase electrical systems.

  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, editing, and light programming.

  • Robotic programming experience using teach pendants and faulting home.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in industrial trades or electrical programs.

  • Experience with new equipment installations or upgrading machine lines.

  • Ability to program PLCs or Robotics from scratch is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment is clean and climate-controlled, ensuring a comfortable setting for all technicians. You will work a 1st shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6am to 2pm, with occasional Saturdays as needed.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $68640.00 - $79040.00/yr.
