About the role

Kerry Vinegar is seeking a Process Engineer

Join us in a dynamic food manufacturing environment. Embrace the role and drive operational excellence to optimize, troubleshoot and maintain existing equipment, utilities, process control systems and bacterial colony growth and health. Manage process improvement and operator training programs associated with all vinegar production processes. Develop, monitor and continuously improve manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

​​Monitor and optimize the chemical and technical aspects of all vinegar production on site.

  • ​Establish and perform training program focused on improving operator skill and knowledge base for all aspects of the vinegar fermentation process.

  • ​Lead capital improvement projects up to $500,000 at the plant level.

  • ​Create and maintain Plant P&ID drawings within the vinegar network.

  • ​Leads and participates in process improvement projects associated with vinegar production and process efficiency.

  • ​Assists in SAP documentation and training as required.

  • ​Assists in troubleshooting the production process to eliminate production losses due to contamination, equipment malfunction and human error.

  • ​Participates in process and equipment risk assessments in order to optimize engineering design and safety.

  • ​Works with maintenance and reliability on equipment modernization and improvements.

  • Assists as necessary in other plant production-related functions such as sampling and testing.

Qualifications and skills

Skills & Qualifications

​Bachelor’s of Science degree in an Engineering discipline. ​

2+ years in a food or beverage manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently with a minimum of guidance from management.

  • AutoCAD P&ID drawings experience.

  • Project Management Experience.

  • Six Sigma experience preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.​

  • Demonstrated leadership in the areas of safety and environment. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents.

  • Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.

Physical Requirements

Ability to climb catwalk stairs to access process equipment and computer interface points, lift loads up to 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and work in areas that could have vinegar fumes/odors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally to stoop, kneel, or crouch.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The position frequently requires the ability to hear and to communicate verbally.

The pay range for this position is $77,000 - $109,050 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition, this position is also eligible to earn a performance-based incentive compensation. Kerry offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, Employee Share Plan, Life, disability, and accident insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
