Brief Position Overview

This is a full-time, tenure track position in Nursing at MSU -Northern. It requires high quality instruction in an ACEN accredited ASN program and in an online Bachelor of Science completion program (RN- BSN ). The ASN courses include lecture, clinical instruction, and lab/simulation instruction completed in a face-to-face format. The online RN- BSN completion program requires nursing instruction through distance learning. Applicants with specialties across all areas of nursing are encouraged to apply.

MSUN will only consider applicants who are authorized to work in the US and will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

General Statement

This is a full-time, tenure track position in Nursing at MSU -Northern. It requires high quality instruction in an ACEN accredited ASN program and in an online Bachelor of Science completion program (RN- BSN ). The ASN courses include lecture, clinical instruction, and lab/simulation instruction completed in a face-to-face format. The online RN- BSN completion program requires nursing instruction through distance learning. Applicants with specialties across all areas of nursing are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate high-quality courses in an Associate of Science ( ASN ) program and an Online RN- BSN Completion program

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clinical affiliates

  • Provide lecture and lab/clinical instruction in area of specialty

  • Provide instruction in Simulation Lab

  • Advise nursing and pre-nursing students

  • Participate in the ongoing development and evaluation of program outcomes and program effectiveness for accrediting bodies

  • Serve on college and university-level committees and engage in campus activities

  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies of the program

  • Demonstrate scholarly activity by continued professional development and active participation in professional organizations

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Holds a Master’s degree in Nursing ( MSN ) from a nationally accredited program; OR

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing ( BSN ) and currently enrolled in an MSN program with a completion timeline of no more than 5 years

  • Maintains a current, unencumbered Montana Registered Nursing license or Compact state licensure and/or is eligible for RN licensure in the State of Montana

  • Possesses significant nursing experience in a clinical setting as a registered nurse

  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, along with a high level of initiative, competency in critical thinking, and sound clinical judgement

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Teaching experience in an ASN or BSN program

  • Experience in distance education including web-based course development

and implementation

  • Experience with Simulation Lab instruction

  • Demonstrated potential to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and

students

  • Demonstrated a commitment to supporting the mission of the college and

university

  • Has successfully completed a Doctor of Nursing Practice ( DNP ) program
