Community Advocate
Opportunities for Otsego is seeking a compassionate, community-minded professional to strengthen the support network for low-income individuals across Otsego County by partnering with local organizations and advocating on behalf of individuals seeking assistance. As Community Advocate you will:

Serve as the point of contact for persons seeking general support from OFO and conduct comprehensive assessment of need

Connect individuals with internal and external programs and maintain follow-up to support ongoing access to services

Share resource and referral information with persons seeking assistance, staff, community members, and professionals as requested

As assigned - represent the agency at community events, meetings, and outreach activities to raise awareness and promote programs and services
Minimum Education and Experience: Associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience or a combination of educational and practical experiences; Social Care Network experience a plus; valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Expected Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills; intermediate knowledge of information technology as pertains to the field; technical and service skills required by duties; client service orientation; accountability for results; teamwork; adaptability; reliability;
Working Conditions: Work in typical office environment; public speaking and presentations (as needed); work with public; occasional to frequent local travel
