Full job description

Position Summary:

The CPD Supervisor will be provide guidance to the CPD staff members through all phases of the CPD processes and collaborate with other nursing departments to provide quality service to all recipients of CPD items. The main functions of this position will include: promoting team work among staff members, assisting manager in staffing plans, developing turn‐around plans for processed items, orientating personnel, demonstrating knowledge and proper handling of sterile equipment and supplies, maintaining / updating CPD computer assisting files and maintaining a clean work environment within the department.

Experience:

Two years experience in a central processing department that is responsible for processing Operating Room instruments. Desirable candidates possess certification in a health related field preferably from an accredited central services agency or association.

Essential Functions:

Serves as a role model and resource person in performance of CPD policy and procedures. Performs ongoing work assessments as determined by caseload needs and department guidelines. Communicates with others, as necessary, within and outside the department to coordinate department activities to assure needs are met in a timely fashion. Assists the Manager in providing 24/7 staffing assignments. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates the proper plan of action. Collaborates with the CPD Assistant in regulating and maintaining CPD inventories. Collaborates with the Biomedical and Maintenance Departments, as needed, to maintain / repair equipment. Maintains computer instrument files and assists the CPD Assistant with patient charges.

Other Duties:

Is authorized to have unsupervised access to non‐controlled medication storage area and non‐controlled medications in CPD in order to perform restocking duties and prepare procedural trays. It is understood that this description in not intended to be all‐inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position. Assists Manager in developing and presenting educational needs within the department. Participates in development of departmental educational and quality assurance plans and processes. Demonstrates effective time management, flexibility, prioritization, and critical thinking skills in his/her performance of duties. Represents the department and hospital in a professional, courteous manner to co‐workers, members of the Guthrie Healthcare system and visitors being sensitive to their perception of verbal and non‐verbal communication. Demonstrates and instructs staff mandatory sterilization testing requirements and documentation. Assists with monitoring inventory by performing cycle counts and physical inventory. Applies principles of microbiology, sterilization, disinfection and modes of disease transmission to promote an infection free environment. Uses proper body mechanics when moving or transferring items to prevent injury to self or others.

pay range min $18.92/hr max $29.98.hr
