Full job description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA Enterprise Services Branch (PC41). In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. GG-0855 Engineer Basic Requirement: Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.ORCombination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:- Professional registration- Written Test- Specified academic courses- Related curriculum -With this criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. For more detailed information on the above criteria, please go to the Qualification Standards AND Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: An experience is defined as: an Electronics Engineer in the design, engineering, and program management of enterprise-level Video Teleconferencing (VTC) and Unified Communications (UC) systems. This experience must include: 1) managing the lifecycle and integration of voice and video networks; 2) providing real-time operational engineering support, including troubleshooting for complex system issues; and 3) translating customer requirements into custom-engineered technical solutions. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Serves as a Systems Engineer for Video Teleconferencing (VTC), responsible for the end-to-end program management, design, engineering, implementation, and operational control of DISN VTC systems within the Pacific Theater. Acts as a regional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for secure data transfer systems, leading the full engineering lifecycle from analysis to support, and oversees technical integration with voice and video capabilities. Monitors contract tasks for video conferencing programs, providing technical oversight of contractor work, and represents the organization as a senior technical expert at industry and public sector conferences. Engineers custom-tailored UC and CDS technical solutions for mission partners by translating their operational requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and overseeing the installation and activation of new systems across the theater. Provides hands-on senior engineering support for regional network operations and international projects; resolves complex communications issues and configures enterprise IT assets.
