Job Title: Field Service TechnicianJob Description
The Field Service Technician provides global customer support by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex industrial machinery and equipment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including hands-on experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, and HMI systems. You will work directly with customers to diagnose issues, perform repairs, document service activities, and ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely. The position is ideal for a self-motivated problem solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (approximately 50% travel).
Responsibilities

Install, commission, and start up industrial machinery and equipment at customer sites worldwide.

Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on machinery and automation systems.

Perform PLC troubleshooting and editing (Allen-Bradley or Siemens) to resolve control system faults and optimize equipment performance.

Diagnose and resolve HMI-related issues to ensure proper operator interface functionality.

Read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and blueprints to identify faults and guide repair activities.

Conduct preventive maintenance and mechanical assembly work to maintain equipment reliability and uptime.

Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, ensuring timely resolution of equipment problems.

Document all service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, parts used, and recommendations, in a clear and organized manner.

Communicate effectively with customers to explain findings, repair plans, and preventive measures in a professional and customer-focused manner.

Collaborate with internal engineering and support teams to address complex technical issues and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support industrial automation and manufacturing equipment in a variety of production environments.

Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 50% of the time) for service assignments, typically 10 days or less, with occasional longer international trips.

Participate in on-site training during the initial months to gain deep familiarity with equipment, procedures, and safety standards.
Essential Skills

3–5 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, or a closely related technical role.

Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working with industrial control systems.

Hands-on PLC troubleshooting and editing experience with Allen-Bradley or Siemens platforms.

Experience supporting industrial automation or manufacturing equipment in a production environment.

Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for reading and working with electrical designs.

Ability to read and interpret electrical prints, schematics, and blueprints accurately.

Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their application in industrial machinery.

Mechanical aptitude with experience in assembly and preventive maintenance of equipment.

Strong customer service orientation and the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.

Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 50% of the time.

Work Environment
The role is based in an industrial machinery and automation environment, supporting customers worldwide. Training takes place on-site for the first 6–12 months, allowing you to become fully familiar with the equipment, tools, and procedures. Employees typically work 40–45 hours per week, with additional hours possible during travel or intensive service assignments. The position involves both domestic and international travel, with travel assignments generally lasting 10 days or less and occasional longer trips for international work. Travel time is compensated at an enhanced rate, and flights and hotels are covered and expensed. A daily food allowance is provided while traveling. Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgis, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
