Full job description

Job Duties

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will:

  • Provide direct support and skills training to adults experiencing mental health crises

  • Assist individuals in developing coping strategies and recovery skills

  • Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary team meetings

  • Implement interventions identified in Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs)

  • Support clients in identifying and utilizing crisis management strategies

  • Complete intake paperwork, releases, and other required documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely progress notes and service records

  • Observe and document medications taken as prescribed

  • Connect clients with community resources and support services

  • Collaborate with mental health professionals, case managers, family members, and community partners

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and recovery-focused environment

  • Attend clinical supervision, staff meetings, and ongoing training opportunities

  • Follow all agency policies regarding confidentiality, client rights, incident reporting, and vulnerable adult protections

Minimum Education Required

Qualified applicants must meet Minnesota Mental Health Practitioner requirements and possess one of the following:

•Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field and 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders; OR

•Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field and completion of an internship or practicum involving direct client interaction; OR

•4,000 hours of experience providing services to adults or children with mental illness or substance use disorders.

Minimum Experience Required

Qualified applicants must meet Minnesota Mental Health Practitioner requirements and possess one of the following:

•Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field and 2,000 hours of experience providing services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders; OR

•Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science or related field and completion of an internship or practicum involving direct client interaction; OR

•4,000 hours of experience providing services to adults or children with mental illness or substance use disorders.
