Duties Description • Operate and drive a tractor-trailer unit to one or more destinations.• Assist with loading and unloading of the trailer.• Ensure the tractor and trailer are maintained.• Monitor gauges, check fluid levels and tire pressures.• Work in the warehouse at such times that deliveries are not required.• Perform tasks in an efficient, timely, and safe manner.Operational Needs:• Possess and maintain a valid Class A Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles.• Possess and maintain an Interstate Commerce Commission Certificate for the operation of a tractor trailer and continuously meet requirements set by the NYS Thruway Authority for tandem tractor operation.• Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time.• Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 pounds.• Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Successful completion of OSHA forklift training and certification is required.• Ability to obtain and maintain certification in CPR and comply with established safety procedures.• Flexibility to work in environments of fluctuating temperatures including limited periods outside, year-round.• May be required to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Note:Shift: 5:00am – 1:30pm• Work hours will be between 20 to 37.5 hours per week. Earliest start time is 5:00am and latest departure time is 1:30pm
Minimum Qualifications Possess and maintain a valid license to operate a Class A motor vehicle in New York State and meet requirements of the New York State Thruway Authority for tandem trailer operation. Appointees will also be required to obtain and maintain any driver’s license endorsements required under the New York State Department of Transportation’s regulations for the transportation of specific types of products in the course of their normal duties (an example of this would be a Hazardous Materials endorsement). Please see the Operational Needs section for endorsements you may need.Pursuant to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Act, pre-employment drug and alcohol testing will be required. Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug and alcohol testing will be required.
