Position Overview

Burlington is hiring a Director of Store Initiatives to lead continuous improvement on all back-of-house processes, tools and equipment, for Burlington’s >1,200 stores. The role is accountable for operational efficiency of processes in scope and oversees all related initiatives to deliver world-class execution of the off-price retail model. The right individual will be a great problem solver, collaborator, people leader, and communicator with experience leading store operations, process improvement, and technology at national scale retailers. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize large scale operational systems and processes, applying engineering principles to improve efficiency, technology integration, and scalability.

A Day in the Life

A Day In The Life

  • Strategy : Set strategy for standards, processes, and tools for in-scope areas to deliver step improvements in efficiency while maintaining quality of outputs and store team experiences. Create and implement a multi-year roadmap from conception of solutions through to testing and scaling.
  • Product operations : Lead execution of product operations in stores to achieve operational efficiency goals. Define processes and tools to receive product and present to the sales floor across all back-of-the-house functions. Manage process and tool improvements, and other initiatives.
  • Leading Process improvement: In partnership with greater store ops, Designs, implements, and optimizes large‑scale operational systems and processes across 1,200+ retail sites, applying engineering principles to improve efficiency, technology integration, and scalability
  • People development : Train, coach, and performance manage teams within the function and mentor individuals in related functions. Establish internal processes to foster professional growth and capability development to create a high-performing organization.
  • Cross-functional collaboration : Engage closely with Supply Chain, Field, Finance, and other functions to deliver on objectives, garner support for programs, and coordinate cross-functional execution of initiatives in the Stores organization.

You'll Come With

Education:

  • B.A. or equivalent in operations, engineering, finance or related field

  • MBA or other advanced degree preferred Experience:

  • 10 years of experience

  • 7 years of experience in store operations at leadership level

  • Proven ability to drive change in stores at national scale retail

  • Experience in product management of technology solutions with or within IT organizations

  • Track record of launching and driving adoption of process changes and tech tools at comparable scale

  • Demonstrated problem solving, organizational leadership, and communication skills Skills and Abilities:

  • Strategic problem solving and innovative thinking

  • Process and detail orientation

  • Engineered Labor Standards software such as LaborPro

  • WorkForce Management (WFM) system such as Reflexis

  • Process improvements in a retail store chain with a broad footprint

Compensation Range: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00
