Position Description:
Provide expertise in the oversight and testing of compliance, as well as adherence to regulatory requirements and ethical standards specific to coding, billing, electronic medical records/documentation, and patient care.
Texas Tech Health El Paso (TTEP) is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those with H1B visas or those currently on student or postgraduate visas.
Additionally, this position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities. All work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP.

Major/Essential Functions:

Partner with all business units to identify key risks and drive the development, documentation andimprovement/revision of compliance policies and procedures.

Identify risks within Federal and State work plans, industry communications, fraud alerts, regulatory agencies, and data mining using software applications.
-
Maintain effective working relationships with all government agencies. Serve as liaison for regulatory site visits.Coordinate implementation and compliance with corrective action plans as advised.

Advise executives in developing functional strategies on matters of significance. Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and work under minimal supervision.

Use independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Research and investigate internal and external customer concerns regarding patient care and associated billing.

Conduct training and education to leadership, faculty and staff as required. Communicate regulatory and industry changes.

In collaboration with, or at the direction of the Vice President of Compliance, conduct ongoing review of compliance policies and procedures, and propose revisions as needed.

Determine and strategize initiatives to develop compliance plans for emerging regulatory requirements.

Works with clinical departments to implement CMS rule requirements into their operations.

Authors policy and procedures based on regulatory requirements.
-
Creates and provides education based on regulatory requirements to university stakeholders.
-
Provides in-person and remote training sessions for university stakeholders.
-
Actively reviews government publication for new and changing regulatory requirements.
-
Demonstrates activity within professional organizations.
-
Remains current with all licensure, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.

Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.).

Extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance challenges.

Extensive knowledge of CMS rules.

Exhibit a thorough understanding of the dynamic healthcare regulatory and compliance environment and demonstrate an ability to analyze complex healthcare compliance requirements.

Proficiency in public speaking and business presentations.

5 years of job-related experience as a compliance professional.
-
Current Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) certification.
-
Prior experience conducting audits in an academic medical or health sciences center.
-
Prior experience in conducting risk assessments.
-
Academic experience preferred.
-
Masters or JD preferred.
-
State or national conference presentation experience.
-
Research compliance experience.

Prior clinical experience.
