The Computing Services central IT department provides services that have a strategic impact on university goals. CMU’s Computing Services department is searching for a Sr. Network Operations Engineer . This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by being responsible or deployment, configuration, maintenance and monitoring of LAN and WAN networks. Monitors network security and connectivity. Gathers information to evaluate network performance, troubleshoots network problems, identifies user needs and determines network requirements.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Deploys, configures, manages and monitors Local Area and Wide Area Networks. This includes deploying and supporting network technologies and services such as routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 wireless LANs, TCP/IP, Ethernet, SNMP and VPN. Monitors network security and connectivity.

  • Gathers information to evaluate network performance, identify user needs and determines network requirements.

  • Maintains accurate and updated documentation.

  • Responds to tier 3 support requests regarding network issues; troubleshoots and determines resolution for network issues

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computing Engineering or Computer Science

  • Strong Problem-Solving and Reasoning Skills

  • 3-5 Years of Network Administration Experience

  • 3-5 Years of Network Deployment and Support Experience

  • 3-5 Years of Network Security Administration Experience

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Certifications:

  • CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional - Cisco Systems Inc.
