Job Description
The R&I (Research & Innovation) Chemist is responsible for applying professional expertise in skincare formulation, cosmetic raw materials, and Cosmax’s product-development practices to develop and commercialize skincare products that meet U.S. market and customer requirements.
Job Duty:
Review Product Development Requests and develop or reformulate skincare and personal-care products to meet customer, technical, aesthetic, quality, and cost requirements.
Apply professional expertise in skincare formulation, cosmetic raw materials, and Cosmax’s product-development practices to prepare, evaluate, and refine laboratory-scale skincare and personal-care formulations.
Conduct and document applicable formulation evaluations, including appearance, texture, viscosity, pH, stability, compatibility, and product performance; analyze results and address formulation issues.
Prepare formulation procedures, batch records, specifications, technical reports, and other product-development documentation in compliance with applicable GMP, GDP, quality, and confidentiality requirements.
Coordinate with Cosmax’s overseas R&I resources and U.S.-based Quality, Regulatory, Purchasing, Packaging, and Manufacturing teams to support the effective transfer and implementation of product-development practices, product scale-up, and commercialization.
Evaluate new cosmetic raw materials and technologies from suppliers and apply them, where appropriate, to customer and product-development projects.
Share technical expertise with relevant laboratory and product-development personnel regarding formulation procedures, raw-material applications, and documentation standards.
Maintain laboratory equipment, materials, safety procedures, and an organized laboratory environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
At least two years of hands-on experience in cosmetic, skincare, personal-care, or related product-formulation development.
Demonstrated knowledge of cosmetic chemistry, skincare formulation principles, cosmetic raw materials, and laboratory-scale product-development processes.
Experience preparing, evaluating, and revising product formulations based on technical requirements, test results, and customer feedback.
Familiarity with GMP, GDP, laboratory safety, and product-development documentation practices.
Ability to conduct basic formulation-related calculations and accurately document laboratory procedures, observations, test results, and product specifications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and overseas R&I personnel.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
English fluency required.
