Job Duties

Structural Engineer | Mid-Level

LHB is looking for a highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our Energy and Industry team. The position will be based in our Duluth or Minneapolis, Minnesota offices.

Position Summary

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

Work effectively in hybrid work environment

Prepare and review structural design calculations, drawings, and specifications

Supervise other engineers, designers, and technicians

Prepare or assist with proposals, tracking budgets and schedules, and workload forecasting

Actively participate in virtual and in-person project and department team meetings

Communicate with clients, contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors

Direct and review project drafting

Perform construction site visits and field observations, review RFI's and submittals

Meet client objectives and exceed their expectations

Contribute to business development

Prepare written technical reports

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program

6 years of prior structural engineering experience including concrete and steel design

Professional Engineer licensure and the ability to become licensed in additional states upon request

Experienced with industry, building, and design codes

Valid driver's license with ability to travel domestically, intermittently

Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit

Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Mathcad, and structural analysis software such as RISA and/or STAAD

Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work outside in most weather conditions

Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

Preferred Qualifications

Passed 16-hour Structural Engineering (SE) Exam

Experienced using AutoCAD and/or Revit

Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills

Experience with pipeline, power delivery, mining, pulp and paper, and/or other industrial work

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with constantly changing priorities.

MSHA Certification

Attention to detail, quality, and accuracy

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to work independently

Good oral and written communication skills, including technical writing ability

Salary Range

This position's anticipated base salary range is $80,000- $115,000 annually (This position is eligible for yearend bonuses) Offer will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity among our team.
