Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes.

  • Cook hot breakfast items, entrées, vegetables, soups, and sandwiches.

  • Perform roasting, baking, broiling, frying, and other food preparation tasks.

  • Slice meats and cheeses and portion ingredients.

  • Oversee food production operations when serving as Chef on Duty.

  • Ensure sanitation, food safety, and HACCP compliance.

  • Train and mentor new staff.

  • Manage inventory, place vendor orders, track deliveries, and process invoices.

  • Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen, storage, and serving areas.

  • Monitor food quality, appearance, texture, and temperatures.

  • Report equipment issues and assist with tray-line setup.

Location: Lancaster General Hospital, 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA

Work Schedule: 4:00am to 2:30pm

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Culinary School diploma or equivalent culinary training.

  • 2+ years of hot food production/cooking experience.

  • 1+ year of cold food preparation experience.

  • 1+ year of volume cooking experience.

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of large-volume production cooking experience.

  • Experience training, supervising, or directing kitchen staff.

  • Inventory control and vendor ordering experience.

  • Experience in commercial, healthcare, institutional, or high-volume food service environments.
