Job Title: Supported Education & Employment Specialist

Grade: 17

Salary: $64,102-$77,037

RFMH is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Supported Education Employment Specialist (SEES) for the Washington Heights Community Service (WHCS) OnTrackNY team. OnTrackNY is a Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) treatment program, based at the NYS Psychiatric Institute/ Columbia Department of Psychiatry, premier research, clinical, and academic center. OnTrackNY serves teens and young adults experiencing early psychosis. Our mission is to empower young people to make meaning of their experiences and to pursue their goals for school, work, and relationships.

The SEES is a full-time, on-site position supporting participants in meeting their goals for school and work. OnTrackNY offers hopeful, youth-friendly, recovery-oriented work; a supportive & collaborative team-based approach; low participant care load; training and technical assistance in the CSC model; and a learning community of experts and colleagues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Engaging participants and establishing trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of school or employment

  • Providing job development and job search services based on participants' interests (e.g. helping participants explore their interests, practice skills that can help them get a job, etc.)

  • Spending significant time in the community (e.g. meeting participants at home, workplace, school, coffee shop, library, etc.)

  • Meeting with school personnel and potential employers

  • Using online applications and resources to assist participants with creating or updating resumes and job searching

  • Arranging access to entitlements counseling for participants and their families

  • Collaborating closely with team members and participating in the weekly team meeting

  • Ensuring timely documentation of all services provided

  • Collecting information and tracking data related to participants' engagement with school and work

  • Completing other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • (1) experience providing employment or education services.

  • (1) year of experience working with adolescents and/or adults diagnosed with mental illness.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
