About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join our occupational health team supporting a clinic based at an industrial/manufacturing facility. This role performs routine clinical and testing under the supervision of our medical staff, ensuring employees receive high-quality, efficient care in a welcoming, industrial health setting.
What You'll Be Doing:
Prepare patients for physical exams: vitals, phlebotomy, vaccines/injections, audiograms, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and respirator fit testing
Perform DOT and non-DOT drug and alcohol testing
Conduct rapid screening tests (glucose, cholesterol, etc.)
Assist providers with surveillance and return to work exams, and injury care
Apply bandages, dressings, and splints as directed
Dispense OTC medications per provider orders and state regulations
Maintain and calibrate medical equipment; manage supply inventory
Complete accurate documentation and recordkeeping in accordance with OSHA and company policya
Assist employees with FMLA paperwork, as needed
Support front-office functions: patient check-in/out, scheduling, employer paperwork distribution
Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict confidentiality
Participate in required training and competency assessments
What You Need to Bring to the Table:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program; Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or NCMA) preferred
EMT certification, then complete an accredited paramedic education program (current or willingness to obtain) a plus
Pass the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic
Graduate from an accredited LPN program and pass the NCLEX-PN national licensing exam.
Working knowledge of occupational medicine practices preferred
Current certifications (or ability to obtain): Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hearing Conservation (Audiometric Testing) Certification, Spirometry Certification (NIOSH-approved preferred)
Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and customer service orientation
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems
Ability to handle sensitive PHI in compliance with HIPAA and applicable regulations
