Responsibilities Performs a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties to assist with the planning, management, and coordination of the department's overall objectives.  Position is characterized by the need for initiative and the ability to problem solve.  Incumbent must be able to tactfully and effectively communicate hospital policies and procedures to employees, executives, consultants and other individuals both within and outside the hospital.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

 

  • High school diploma, equivalent education (GED), post-secondary education or (1) one year work experience .

  • Three (3) years secretarial experience.

  • Typing requirements vary by department, see requisition for requirements.

  • Level of proficiency in the use and application of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) varies by department, see requisition for requirements.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED

  • One (1) or two (2) years college education.

  • Successful completion of course in Medical Terminology.

  • Prior supervisory experience.

  • Prior health care experience.

  • Successful completion of Professional Secretary's Certification course.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of business mathematics and business correspondence.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, exercise independent judgment and maintain confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to use dictation equipment. Work Hours: 8 am - 4 pm
