Job Description:

  • Assist with newborn care at deliveries, providing immediate care and support to newborns during and after delivery.

  • Maintain skills in neonatal resuscitation to respond effectively in emergencies. Demonstrate assessment skills in high and low-risk obstetrical patients to identify potential risks and health issues. Identify and report maternal and newborn problems to the physician promptly.

  • Assist with the transfer of newborns to other facilities when indicated, ensuring safe and efficient transfers. Accurately identify and band newborns, mothers, and significant others to prevent mix-ups.

  • Document all care activities accurately, including band identification numbers in medical records.

  • Provide care during obstetrical surgical procedures, assisting in the Labor & Delivery Operating Suite. Perform intraoperative and post-anesthesia care according to established standards.

  • Conduct steam sterilization processing for instruments and supplies, ensuring all sterilization parameters are met.

  • Provide emotional support for grieving parents, offering compassionate support and connecting them with appropriate support groups.

  • Educate and support families about newborn care, health conditions, and post-discharge care.

Education:

  • Associate's of Nursing [Required]

  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

  • 1+ acute nursing experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Required]

  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]

  • Neonatal Med Certification (NEONATAL MED) [Preferred]
