Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.

Responsibilities

Shift: Flexibile part time schedule 30 hours a week between the hours of 6:00pm-6:00am.

Position Summary:

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials to and from designated storage areas using a small industrial vehicle. This position plays a key role in maintaining warehouse organization, product quality, and operational flow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in daily pre-shift meetings and team stretching.

  • Operate forklift in a safe, efficient, and productive manner.

  • Complete daily forklift inspections; report and remove from service if defects are found.

  • Accurately ship and receive products, performing Quality Reassurance Checks (QRC).

  • Identify and address safety issues or infractions on the warehouse floor.

  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation and paperwork.

  • Accurately fulfill customer orders, including special instructions.

  • Collaborate with office staff to resolve discrepancies and issues efficiently.

  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse: report damages and ensure proper pallet storage.

  • Promote a team-oriented work environment through positive communication.

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and uphold food safety and quality standards.

  • Report any practices or conditions that may affect food safety, product quality, or employee safety.

  • Adhere strictly to all safety policies and procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Successful completion of a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training program and ability to pass forklift certification

  • Ability to effectively read, write, and speak English

  • Strong math and configuration skills

  • Ability to assess situations and make sound decisions that prioritize safety and support company operations

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a palletized warehouse environment

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • PIT certification is preferred but not required at time of hire — all Distribution Operators will receive MFI-approved training and certification upon employment

The pay range for this position is $19.50 to $23.50 per hour.
