Job Description

Open to candidates located in South Bend, Indianapolis, Chicago, or surrounding areas within driving distance.

Insight Global is seeking a Project Manager for a top utility construction and fiber infrastructure client. Due to significant growth in fiber optic infrastructure supporting hyperscale data center development, the organization is building a dedicated layer of Project Managers to oversee day-to-day construction execution and project delivery. These positions were created to provide additional operational leadership and allow Operations Managers to focus on customer relationships, strategic planning, and executive-level communication.

This individual will manage the full lifecycle of fiber installation and splicing projects within an assigned market, partnering closely with Operations Managers, engineering teams, construction crews, subcontractors, and customers. Responsibilities include project planning, schedule and budget management, contract administration, permitting coordination, customer communications, and project closeout activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in OSP telecom construction, underground fiber infrastructure, and fiber splicing operations, along with the leadership skills necessary to manage crews, stakeholders, and complex project schedules. This is an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing organization supporting some of the largest fiber and data center infrastructure projects in the country.

This position is a direct hire with a salary between $125k/yr - $160k/yr dependent on experience.

Day-to-Day:

  • Manage multiple fiber installation and splicing projects throughout an assigned geographic region

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project execution and field operations

  • Send weekly/bi-weekly customer updates detailing project status, milestones, and risks

  • Review cabling and splicing RFPs and validate quantities before distribution to field teams

  • Facilitate internal project status meetings with Operations Managers, Project Managers, and field leadership

  • Coordinate engineering, permitting, construction, and customer stakeholders throughout project lifecycles

  • Review permit drawings and collaborate with engineering teams on construction plan revisions

  • Develop fiber network designs and Engineering Design Packages (EDPs)

  • Manage service orders, contracts, change orders, and project documentation

  • Track schedules, budgets, materials, milestones, and deliverables

  • Ensure testing results, redlines, GIS updates, and closeout documentation meet customer requirements

  • Submit Ready for Service (RFS) notifications and maintain project tracking systems

  • Coordinate emergency response communications and escalation efforts

  • Lead preconstruction meetings and proactively identify project risks

  • Support construction teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget

Travel Expectations:

  • This is a hybrid role with travel requirements driven by project activity rather than a fixed onsite schedule.

  • Candidates should reside within approximately 2 hours of their assigned market/project location.

  • Project Managers are expected to be onsite as needed to support customer meetings, critical project milestones, field operations, construction activities, and issue resolution.

  • Onsite presence will vary depending on project phase and customer requirements.

  • Some weeks may require 1-2 onsite days, while critical construction phases may require 4+ onsite days.

  • Candidates should be comfortable traveling throughout their assigned market and supporting project sites as business needs dictate.
