Reporting to the Regional HR Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to operational leaders across union and non-union environments, balancing strategic workforce planning with a strong focus on compliance and employee relations. This high-visibility role requires someone who can build strong relationships while providing candid counsel and objective guidance to ensure fair, consistent practices. Based in Berlin, CT, this is primarily an in-office role initially, with future hybrid flexibility and occasional travel to regional locations.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a trusted advisor to operational leaders, aligning workforce strategy and talent initiatives with key business goals.

  • Provide expert coaching on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and organizational change.

  • Advocate for fair and consistent practices by providing compliance-focused guidance on employment laws, collective bargaining requirements, and company policies.

  • Manage investigations from intake to resolution, ensuring thorough documentation, risk assessment, and fair outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and operational leaders to forecast hiring needs, optimize staffing, and build pipelines with technical schools, trade organizations, and military sources.

  • Drive engaging onboarding initiatives, lead New Hire Orientation, and champion a visible, approachable HR presence across the workforce.

  • Analyze key metrics such as turnover, retention, and time-to-fill to identify trends, pinpoint risks, and recommend proactive solutions.

  • Oversee accurate HRIS records, employee relations case files, leaves of absence, return-to-work programs, and benefits support.

  • Conduct regular travel to regional locations (including Springfield, MA, and Woodbridge, CT) to support employee relations, onboarding, and operational needs.

  • Perform other responsibilities and HR initiatives as assigned.

What You'll Have

  • High School Diploma with 5+ years of HR experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources (or a related field) with 3+ years of HR experience.

  • Working knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, employee relations, and core HR disciplines.

  • Confidence to influence without authority, deliver difficult messages, and appropriately challenge leaders when needed.

  • Prior experience leading employee-relations, investigation, consultation, and problem-solving skills.

Work Environment

  • Position is based inBerlin, Connecticutand initially requiresfive days per week in the office.

  • Following successful training and acclimation, remote workup to two days per weekmay be available based on business needs.

  • Occasional travel toSpringfield, Massachusetts, and Woodbridge, Connecticut.

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with periodic presence in warehouse, field, and construction-site environments.

  • Flexibility in work schedule may occasionally be required to address employee or operational needs.

  • Mobility is required within office, warehouse, and construction-site environments, with the ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
