Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description

We are hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to support field construction operations, with a focus on grading, excavation, and site preparation. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience operating machinery, reading plans, and working safely in a fast-paced job site environment. Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment such as CAT machinery, excavators, and backhoes.

  • Perform grading and excavation tasks, including reading and following site plans, shooting grade, and running grade pulls.

  • Follow established lines and layouts to execute scope of work with accuracy and efficiency.

  • Maintain strong awareness of surroundings to ensure site safety.

  • Conduct routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.

  • Keep job sites clean and organized.

  • Collaborate with field crews, site supervisors, contractors, and project stakeholders.

  • Follow OSHA safety standards.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 2–3 years of heavy equipment operation or construction experience.

  • Ability to read and follow construction plans.

  • Experience operating excavators, backhoes, or similar heavy machinery.

  • Strong understanding of job site safety practices.

  • Experience on CAT machinery.

  • OSHA 10 certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience with advanced capabilities such as shooting grade and running grade pull.

  • Ability to follow detailed site plans independently.

  • Experience with installation or excavation.

  • Experience coordinating work with contractors on active job sites.

  • Reliable, hardworking, and team-oriented.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily on construction sites, focusing on site preparation before any structures go up. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5 pm, with 5 to 10 hours of overtime available. Safety equipment and appropriate attire are required to ensure a safe working environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spicewood, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $31.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
