The Extrusion Operator Lead will provide direction and support to the team while driving compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, such as Safety and Quality.

Essential FunctionsSafety and Culture:• Champion a culture of safety by maintaining a secure work environment and advocating safe practices.• Respond promptly to workplace injuries, ensuring appropriate treatment and adherence to the injury checklist, while assisting with corrective actions.• Vigilantly monitor the work environment to identify and address conditions impacting employee safety and security.Training and Development:• Develop and implement comprehensive training plans, facilitating or delegating safety, maintenance, machine operation, and quality assurance sessions for new employees.• Collaborate with supervisors to prepare detailed documentation and provide constructive performance feedback to new team members.• Leadership and Communication:• Provide leadership and direction to the team in the absence of supervisors, ensuring continuity and efficiency.• Offer insightful feedback to plant leaders regarding employee performance and behavior.• Ensure employees are equipped with the necessary tools, supplies, and workspace to perform their duties effectively.Production Management:• Operate production equipment proficiently when necessary, maintaining operational flow.• Review shift notes and communicate essential information to production staff effectively.• Monitor hour-by-hour production boards, ensuring compliance and addressing any arising issues.• Troubleshoot and resolve process challenges, executing minor repairs on production equipment as needed.• Compile and document daily production reports in the absence of supervisors.Qualifications:• Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide and inspire a team.• Strong problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude in production equipment operations.• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work well with others.• Flexible to work assigned shift.• Ability to work overtime when necessary.• Be in good standing.• Be able to use e-mail and communicate effectively.• Previous experience in extrusion.• Strong organizational and time management skills.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.• Ability to read, understand and follow written and verbal work instructions

Education/Experience • High School Diploma or GED preferred.• Proven experience (1+ years) in extrusion.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud. Employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions if required to go outdoors. Proper use of PPE is required in Production area at all times.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform a standing job for 8 to 12 consecutive hours.• Remain stationary extended periods of time.• Move around the production floor.• Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 pounds.• Identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more.• Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 8 to 12-hour period.
