Job Description:

Qualifications

• Schedule: Days, Monday - Friday

• Location: 601 East Rollins Street, Orlando, FL

• MD or DO with current board certification in a pediatric specialty.

• Participates in clinical activities a minimum of 20% of the time.

• Active, unrestricted medical license in the state of Florida (or ability to obtain).

• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience with demonstrated leadership in quality improvement and patient safety.

• Advanced training or certification in healthcare quality (e.g., Masters of Science in Healthcare Quality & Safety, CPHQ, Lean Six Sigma) preferred.

• Strong knowledge of regulatory standards, accreditation processes, and pediatric quality metrics.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and transition management skills.

• Demonstrates the ability to develop and mentor others to their optimum levels of skill and professionalism

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive pediatric quality and patient safety strategy aligned with organizational goals.

• Serve as a clinical champion for quality initiatives, ensuring integration of best practices across inpatient and outpatient settings.

• Promote collaboration, ensure desired outcomes, and serve as an accountability partner within AHFC and across the Network.

• Responsible for identifying, prioritizing and driving performance outcomes in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members.

• Act as a clinical integrator across medical staff, nursing, quality, patient experience, and operations to align pediatric quality priorities with organizational strategy.

Quality Improvement & Patient Safety

• Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement programs to enhance patient outcomes and safety.

• Lead root cause analyses, failure mode and effects analyses (FMEA), and other risk-reduction strategies.

• Sponsor and guide high reliability and Lean-based improvement initiatives to drive sustained performance and reduce variation in pediatric care delivery.

• Promote a 'Just Culture' that encourages reporting and learning from adverse events without fear of retribution.

• Support AHFC serving as a 'High Reliability Organization.'

• Promote Morbidity & Mortality reviews that allow for shared learning and collaborative growth where needed.

• Ensure communication of these initiatives across the network and AdventHealth organizationally where appropriate.

• Provides leadership in the delivery of care through medical practice both in clinical units and the organization and acts as a liaison for nursing care.

• Ensure evidence-based practice standards for care delivery are achieved by all departments and areas of oversight.

• Rounds with intention on the units, engaging staff and lead in maintaining an environment of safety.

Regulatory & Accreditation Readiness

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (DNV, federal and state agencies, surgical verification) and pediatric-specific quality benchmarks.

• Prepare for accreditation surveys and manage submission of required documentation.

• Participate in addressing any gaps identified by governing bodies within a defined timeframe.

Clinical Data & Analytics

• Partner with analytics teams to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), clinical outcomes, and patient safety metrics.

• Use data-driven insights to guide decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.

• Provides oversight and responsibility for the quality of the data imputed for national benchmarking efforts specific to specialty programs.

• Support departmental initiatives allowing for US News & World Reports, Leapfrog, and any/all certification/performance-based organizations.

Collaboration & Education

• Work closely and collaboratively with medical staff, nursing, and administrative leaders to embed quality and safety principles into daily practice.

• Provide education and mentorship on evidence-based care, risk mitigation, and quality improvement methodologies.

• Represent AHFC effectively within nationally recognized forums for quality and patient care (SPS, CHA, etc) when requested.

• Participate in teaching opportunities throughout the organization.

• Maintain professional proficiency by participating in continuing education and appropriate learning experiences, both internal and external. Attend pertinent conferences and seminars regarding clinical care, business, or management.

Risk Management & Peer Review

• Collaborate with enterprise Risk Manager and Quality Management Systems (QMS) teams on event investigations, RCAs, grievances, and peer review processes.

• Support strategies to reduce litigation risk and improve patient safety outcomes.

• Partner with Patient Experience (PE) to ensure quality care met with positive patient experience.

$0.00 - $2,080,000.00 Background Screening Requirement (Florida Law)
