Full job description

CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Mechanical Technician IV. This onsite role supports manufacturing engineering projects focused on equipment installation, startup, debugging, troubleshooting, and mechanical readiness for production operations.

The Mechanical Technician IV will provide advanced mechanical expertise to support capacity expansion projects, manufacturing equipment improvements, and process optimization initiatives. This position works closely with engineering teams, operations, vendors, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges and ensure successful project execution.

Location: Newton, NC

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Newton, NC

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Associate degree in a relevant field (Mechanical, Technical, Engineering)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing equipment installations, startups, and debugging activities to meet project milestones.

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, pumps, and gear systems.

  • Develop and implement mechanical solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability, and safety.

  • Analyze equipment issues, identify root causes, and collaborate with technical teams to implement corrective actions.

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.

  • Perform equipment alignment, testing, calibration, and validation after installation.

  • Maintain engineering and operational documentation.

  • Support training activities related to equipment changes and process improvements.

  • Assist with spare parts identification and maintenance readiness activities.

  • Follow all safety procedures and communicate potential hazards.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting new equipment installations in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with equipment startup and commissioning preferred.

  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Hands-on experience with industrial mechanical systems and diagnostic tools.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing project environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems.

  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical test equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanical or industrial certifications such as millwright or welding.

  • OSHA or safety-related certifications.

  • CAD experience.

  • Project leadership or project management experience.

  • Vendor and supplier coordination experience.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical problem-solving ability.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.

Travel Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required between project locations within the Newton to Hickory, North Carolina area.
