The Corporate Accounting team at Robinhood is responsible for managing the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements for all our stakeholders. As the Director of Accounting, you will play a key leadership role in the Corporate Accounting team, and will be responsible for overseeing monthly and quarterly close processes, timely and accurately preparing the financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. We are looking for a well-rounded individual who has demonstrated the ability to build and lead teams and manage general ledger functions in a high-growth, dynamic, and fast-paced environment. You will also oversee projects involving system implementations and automation projects that will help Robinhood scale as we grow.

This role is based in our Menlo Park, CA, office with in-person attendance expected 5 days per week.

What you’ll do

  • Lead full month-end close and consolidation process of global accounting function, ensure the accuracy of the financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee multiple key corporate accounting functions including opex accrual, prepaids, payroll accounting, and intercompany transactions etc; build top center of excellence team to support global controllership functions.
  • Support certain product accounting as needed, collaborate with the technical accounting team on new product launches and translate it into operational procedures.
  • Evaluate existing processes to identify opportunities to optimize the process and decrease time to close.
  • Identify repetitive tasks and lead the team to build scalable solutions including leveraging AI
  • Lead significant ERP and system implementations as financial systems DRI.
  • Ensure all close deliverables are audit-ready and coordinate with auditors and service providers to support smooth financial statements audits.
  • Develop strong cross functional relationships within the organization and proactively take the lead to support changes within the fast growing business.
  • Ensure all key internal controls over operations and financial reporting are in place and operating in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations.
  • Lead and scale a high-performing team to support the growth and development.

What you bring

  • 12+ years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business related, 4+ years of leadership role at least.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills, leading process improvements and projects in cross-functional and high-growth environments.
  • Proven strategic leadership with a track record of system automation and special project implementation.
  • Experience with Oracle ERP, Coupa, Workday, Oracle FCCS.
  • Proactive, excellent communication skills and ability to solve the problems proactively.

In addition to the base pay range listed below, this role is also eligible for bonus opportunities + equity + benefits.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

Base Pay Range:

Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC)

$213,000—$250,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$187,000—$220,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$166,000—$195,000 USD
