1st Shift - 5:00 am - 3:30 pm Monday through Thursday (Overtime as business needs dictate)

Starting Pay Rate $23.00/hr - $30.00/hr Depending upon experience

Our Globe Footwear Plant, a Division of MSA Safety, is looking for individuals who are interested in being part of a team that builds protective leather footwear for firefighters. Our Team consists of individuals performing stitching and non-stitching operations as we convert specialty cut fabric into high quality footwear.

Now hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Auburn, Maine manufacturing plant. This role will support maintenance and mechanic duties for the building and with manufacturing equipment inside and outside of the plant. To be successful in this role you should have the ability to work with hand and power tools, good mechanical and electrical knowledge, and/or ability to learn the electrical portion, and general willingness to learn equipment and building maintenance. Responsibilities:

  • Effectively maintain production equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service on machines.

  • Assist with machine maintenance and improvement of facilities systems, buildings, and equipment, including learning all aspects of machines and mechanic's position.

  • Provide and measure rapid response to machine downtime to ensure downtime is minimized.

  • Stay current with machine maintenance best practices to continuously improve maintenance techniques.

  • Repair broken machines quickly and efficiently; prepare reports documenting work performed.

  • Perform general repairs, and routine maintenance on building systems.

  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Assist with facility projects as needed.

  • Ensure all equipment is in safe operating condition and all safety concerns are immediately reported and addressed.

  • Maintain machine guarding and safety risk reduction during maintenance activity and operator equipment facilities use.

  • Ensure that all machine guarding meets guidelines and regulations and drive your team to seek and eliminate plant safety risks.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.

  • 1-5 years mechanical experience.

  • Mechanically inclined, with great problem-solving skills.

  • Able to stand, reach, bend, stoop and walk continuously throughout the day.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Logical thinker, ability to troubleshoot equipment.

  • Willing to work overtime as necessary.

  • Able to work within a team and independently meeting goals.

  • Able to read and understand technical manuals.

  • Basic computer knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing position.

  • Knowledge of electrical systems (able to troubleshoot) on automated equipment and/or willingness to learn.

  • Stitching operation and sewing machine maintenance knowledge.

  • Able to read schematics.

  • Knowledge of driving production to meet KPI's.
