About Napster
Napster offers lifelike AI agents that meet your customers wherever they are, and collaborate with your employees as coworkers. Agents that meet your customers on your website, inside your app, on a kiosk in a hospital lobby or a quick-service counter. And agents that work right next to your people, a real crew for every single employee.
Make building an agentic app on Napster feel obvious.
The opportunity
Napster's API lets a developer drop a lifelike AI agent into their own product: one identity, persistent memory, voice and avatar, all callable from their own codebase. The demos land. The moment that decides everything is the next one, when a developer tries to get from sign-up to a working agent in their own codebase. You own that moment. You make building on Napster feel obvious, fast, and a little thrilling, so a developer reaches a working call with little help from the core team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who has built developer experience at an API-first company, writes real code rather than just prose, and has driven time-to-first-call down before.
In this role, you will
- Own the path to a first working agentic app : the quickstart, the SDKs, the sample apps, and the implementation guides.
- Capture the canonical patterns for agentic apps on Napster, drawn from real builds.
- Drive down the one metric that matters most : time from sign-up to first working call.
- Own the judgment of what great agentic developer experience is.
Your first 90 days
You cut first-call friction measurably, capture the patterns that currently live only in people's heads, and produce partner-ready examples. By day 90 the test is simple: a developer you have never met reaches a working call on their own.
How you'll know it's working
Time to first working call drops. Partner implementations succeed without the core team. Developer activation rises. Repeat questions fall.
Who you'll work with
You work with API product direction and with the engineers on the agent platform, and directly with partner engineers when they hit a real wall.
Competencies
- Builder, not just Writer. You write and ship real code and SDKs, not only documentation.
- Onboarding Judgment. You know what makes a first build feel obvious, and you design for it.
- AI-First Operator. You build with the same agentic tooling our customers use, ship reference implementations from it, and treat the friction in your own quickstart as the next bug to fix.
- Friction Removal. You have driven time-to-first-call down before and can show how.
- Pattern Capture. You turn real builds into canonical patterns others follow.
- Developer Empathy. You feel the wall a developer hits before they do.
Why this is one of the best seats, period
Most developer-experience roles polish what already exists. You will define what building on a new kind of platform feels like, for every developer who comes after. If that is the work you love, this is the seat.
