Job Duties

CNC Programmer

Overview

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, editing, and optimizing CNC programs to support high-quality machining operations. This role works closely with machinists, engineers, and production teams to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and modify CNC programs for mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machines

Use Mastercam, G-code, or other CAM software to generate toolpaths

Set up machines or support setup teams with tooling, offsets, and process instructions

Optimize cycle times, tooling strategies, and machining processes

Read and interpret blueprints, CAD models, and technical drawings

Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust programs as needed

Ensure all parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards

Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams

Maintain organized program files and documentation

Minimum Education Required

High School Diploma

Minimum Experience Required

Qualifications

Experience programming CNC machines (mill/lathe/Swiss depending on shop)

Strong knowledge of Mastercam or similar CAM software

Solid understanding of tooling, feeds/speeds, and machining principles

Ability to read blueprints and GD&T

Problem-solving mindset and high attention to detail

Experience with setup or machining is a plus
