Job Description

The Audio-Visual Installation Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance of residential and commercial audio/video systems. This position requires strong technical abilities, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.

The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Install residential and commercial audio/video systems

  • Install and mount televisions, projectors, projection screens, and video walls

  • Install and configure surround sound systems

  • Install distributed whole-home audio systems

  • Install outdoor entertainment systems and cameras

  • Install structured wiring including:

o Cat5e/Cat6

o Fiber optic (preferred)

o HDMI

o Speaker wire

o Coaxial cable

  • Install equipment racks and cable management systems

  • Configure streaming devices, smart televisions wireless networks related to AV systems,

And home automation platforms

  • Program universal remotes and automation systems

  • Perform equipment testing and commissioning

  • Troubleshoot audio, video, networking, and control system issues

  • Train customers on operation of installed systems and maintain clean and organized job sites while following

company safety procedures and industry best practices

Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Whole-home audio systems including home automation

  • Multi-room audio

  • Home theaters and conference room AV

  • Digital signage

  • Outdoor entertainment systems

  • Equipment racks

  • Structured cabling

  • Network switches

  • Wireless access points

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • Control4, Sonos, Yamaha, Denon, Marantz, Sony, Samsung, LG, Epson, JVC, Snap One, Araknis, Luxul,

Ubiquiti, Pakedge, Lutron, Ring, Apple TV, Roku

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 2+ years of AV installation experience preferred

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Basic understanding of networking

  • Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams

  • Ability to use power and hand tools safely

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Strong troubleshooting ability

  • Clean driving record

  • Valid driver's license

  • Ability to pass background screening and drug testing

Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 75 pounds

  • Work on ladders and lifts

  • Crawl through attics and crawl spaces

  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

  • Stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods

  • Safely operate power tools and testing equipment
