Description

SAIC is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Modeling and Simulation Aerospace Engineer to support hypersonic weapon systems development in Crane, IN. As a critical member of our team, you will help design, model, and validate GN&C systems for hypersonic weapons, with a focus on simulation development, algorithm design, and performance analysis in a mission-critical environment. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing weapon system performance in high-speed and harsh environments.

NOTE: This is a hybrid position requiring the candidate to be in office 1-4 times per week.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and refine GNC algorithms for guidance, control, and navigation

  • Support hypersonic weapon system modeling and simulation, including 6 DOF (six degrees of freedom) simulations

  • Perform trajectory analysis, mission performance evaluations, and control system stability assessments

  • Analyze telemetry, flight test data, and HWIL/SIL outputs to validate system performance

  • Conduct Monte Carlo analysis, uncertainty modeling, and system performance sensitivity studies

  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements

  • Support requirements decomposition, interface definition, and subsystem integration with system engineering teams

  • Document models, test results, algorithm behavior, and performance in technical reports and presentations

  • Participate in technical reviews, design sessions, and engineering working groups with government and contractor personnel

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline (Master’s preferred) and 3 or more years experience

  • Experience in GNC engineering, missile guidance, flight controls, or related system modeling

  • Interim clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level

  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, FORTRAN or equivalent simulation frameworks/programming languages

  • Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to perform one or more of the following Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments based on completed course work or professional experience:

  • Develop and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms

  • Develop and/or verify/validate complex vehicle models and simulations such as missile 6-degree-of-freedom simulations

  • Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations

PREFFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Familiarity with hardware in the loop (HWIL) or software in the loop (SIL) environments

  • Experience supporting missile systems, unmanned systems, or weapons/flight dynamics programs

  • Experience supporting DoD/DoW Weapons Systems

  • Experience with aerospace flight test data analysis or guidance verification

  • Current active Secret clearance
