Veterinary Assistant - Surgery

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Surgery department in Monterey, CA!

Pay : $21.26 - $31.45/Hr

A BluePearl SurgeryAssistantwillbe responsible forsome post-operative client communication and must be able to work independently while contributing to a larger team goal. Prefer to have a minimum of two or more years of experience in a veterinary hospital. Arotating oncall schedule isrequiredonce training has been completed. As a Surgery Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.

• Utilize their ability to place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalicvein.

• Performs physicalexam; accurately countsheart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratoryrateand effort.

• Understands normal vital parameters andalertsdoctor when abnormal.

• Able to set up intravenous fluids.

• Administers subcutaneous fluids.

• Canoperateall brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

• Able to disconnect and connectpatientsfrom intravenous fluids aseptically.

• Ability tomonitorpatient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload. Why BluePearl ?
