Full job description

Hours: 6.0 hours/day (Approximate start and end time: 8:00am - 2:00pm) Wayzata Cafés Assistant at West Middle School Starting Wage: $24.18/hour Wayzata Cafes Contract

Join our team of School Nutrition Professionals who are dedicated to plan, prepare, and serve delicious meals that nourish our students' bodies and minds and give them a sense of belonging. Not only are your days filled with variety and fast-paced action, but you also get to build genuine and authentic connections with students. 

Position Description : To perform a variety of basic responsibilities include: selecting, measuring, mixing, finishing and readying products for serving based on standardized recipes or as directed in a manner which contributes to the effective, efficient and safe preparation and delivery of school nutrition products and/or services. To perform duties as assigned to help maintain a coordinated, productive preparation and service operation.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position: A. Develops and maintains a good working knowledge of applicable department and District policies and procedures, complying with such policies and procedures as established and communicated. B. Confers with the immediate supervisor or in-charge individual at the assigned site to ensure a correct and complete understanding of the work to be done, work priorities and any additional important information that should be known. C. Develops and maintains cooperative, productive workplace relationships in a manner which creates a pleasant environment for all those serving and those being served. D. Performs a variety of food preparation responsibilities and/or duties of a Food Service Worker as outlined in the position summary per work schedules and according to established procedures / protocols of the department and/or assigned sites. E. Performs additional, comparable duties related to the preparation, serving and clean up of planned meals for school and/or community special events. F.  Attends designated and approved in-service or out-of-District training classes and workshops to keep current on the field and policies / procedures of the District. G. Keeps the immediate supervisor or in-charge individual informed of all-important matters to minimize downtime or safety problems. H. Performs kindred job duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or in-charge individual.

Qualifications :

  • Must have previous related experience working in an institutional kitchen.

  • Must have experience with quantity food production.

  • Basic math and computational skills are required.

Other Skills and Abilities :

  • Must be able to communicate directions, ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to perform computer entry and use of institutional food service equipment.

All new food service employees must pass a pre-placement physical that is arranged through the district.
