Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
To enter patient selections in the handheld computer in compliance with patient diet orders; assist patients in selecting their meals whenever possible; to explain basic diet information to patients and their family members; to act as a liaison between patients and the Department of Food & Nutrition ensuring that they receive the highest level of customer service. To know and perform basic computer functions related to the CBORD Diet Office System. To provide tray delivery and nourishments to patients. To stock food supplies for the nursing unit's pantries. To deal with all meal service issues.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills.
EXPERIENCE:
One-year previous experience as a Dietary Aide in a hospital food service or related healthcare setting.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to read, write and speak English including ability to read relatively small type on a computer screen. Good communication skills. Ability to pay attention to details while changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Must be comfortable speaking and interacting with patients and family members. Desire and ability to focus on customer service. Ability to learn and retain basic diet information.
