Job Title:
Utility Welder / Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and versatile Utility Mechanic to support operations by maintaining, repairing, and fabricating a wide range of equipment and infrastructure. This position requires hands-on expertise in welding, generator and mechanical equipment repair, and facility installation tasks such as darkroom construction. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently on diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on various equipment including generators, compressors, pumps, and specialty tools.

Weld, fabricate, and modify metal structures, supports, brackets, and enclosures as needed.

Install and maintain darkrooms and similar specialty spaces, including layout, framing, plumbing, electrical, and ventilation components.

Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
-
Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Assist with general facility upkeep, including plumbing, lighting, and basic construction work.

Respond to maintenance emergencies or urgent equipment failures.

Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company standards.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in welding or mechanical repair is a plus.

Proven experience in welding (MIG, TIG, or Stick) and general fabrication.

Strong knowledge of small engine and generator maintenance and repair.

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites as needed.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand or kneel for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.

Comfortable working in confined spaces or elevated areas.
