Job Description

  • Stocks patient rooms, OB emergency department, and OB operating room.
  • Assists nurses in providing patient care and attends deliveries to support RNs.
  • Performs secretary duties, including answering phones, managing access-controlled entry door visitor screening, supply management, and maintaining the delivery register.
  • Conducts cart checks to ensure availability of necessary supplies.
  • Performs 24-hour testing on newborns, including hearing screens, lab work, and Critical Congenital Heart Disease (CCHD) screening.
  • Provides excellent customer service to patients and visitors.
  • Assists with performance improvement activities and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Turns over the OB operating room between cases.
  • Assists with Cesarean Sections and circumcision setup, including instrument cleaning.
  • Sets up delivery tables and cleans delivery instruments.
  • Provides bedside patient care, including vital signs, blood sugars, baths, feeding, and repositioning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to provide basic care for newborns [Required]

  • Basic knowledge of pregnancy and labor process [Required]

  • Ability to maintain sterile fields [Required]

  • Surgical Instrument Terminology [Required]

  • Knowledge of Caesarean Section procedural responsibilities [Required]

  • Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail [Required]

  • Assembly of mechanical devices, knowledge of surgical instrumentation, and fundamental human anatomy [Required]

  • Must be able to work well with multiple team members [Required]

  • Background in a diversity of OB and OR surgical procedures [Preferred]

  • Prior experience [Preferred]

Education:

  • High School Grad or Equivalent [Required]
