We are seeking a reliable individual for a position as a Maintenance & Protection of Traffic (MPT) Foreperson to join a dedicated and hard-working team in Wilton Campus. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.

  • Lead MPT crews on heavy highway and bridge construction projects.

  • Implement and maintain work zone traffic control plans in accordance with NYSDOT and other applicable standards.

  • Install, maintain, inspect, and remove temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, drums, barricades, temporary barrier, arrow boards, and message boards.

  • Coordinate lane closures, detours, traffic shifts, and work zone changes.

  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure traffic control devices remain compliant throughout each shift.

  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, paving crews, bridge crews, subcontractors, and law enforcement when necessary.

  • Maintain traffic safely while minimizing disruption to the traveling public.

  • Manage crew productivity, equipment, and traffic control inventory.

  • Complete daily reports and documentation related to traffic control activities.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of traffic control or heavy highway construction experience.

  • Previous experience leading traffic control, highway maintenance, or roadway construction crews.

  • Thorough understanding of :

o NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Standards

o MUTCD requirements

o Lane closures and traffic shifts

o Temporary traffic control devices

o Work zone safety

  • Ability to interpret traffic control plans and project drawings.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • NYSDOT Work Zone Traffic Control Supervisor Certification

  • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) certification

  • ATSSA Traffic Control Technician (TCT) certification

  • NYSDOT work zone traffic control experience

  • Experience on interstate highway, bridge, or roadway reconstruction projects

  • Experience coordinating night work and multiple lane closures

  • OSHA 30 certification

  • CDL (preferred but not required)

Compensation:

Competitive wage commensurate with experience. Excellent benefit package including company paid health, dental and vision insurance with a company-funded retirement plan.

Salary Range: Prevailing Wage

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, overtime when applicable, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
