Position Title: Corporate Controller

Position Reports To: CFO

Position Summary

The Corporate Controller is responsible for the company's accounting practices, internal controls, regulatory compliance, maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. Oversees general accounting, property accounting, cost accounting, and regulatory reporting across the company’s multi-entity, multi-location operations. Responsible for planning and execution of external financial and operational audits. Prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules. Demonstrates expertise in concepts, practices, and procedures in the fields of finance and accounting. Relies on extensive experience and organizational skills to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. Promotes and maintains positive relationships with all contacts, internal and external.

Essential Functions

Financial Reporting & Close

  • Handles the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Manages daily cash and prepares cash-flow reports, monitoring cash position and providing cash flow reporting at daily intervals

  • Oversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles

Accounting Operations

  • Plans and directs all accounting operational functions

  • Researches, plans, and implements department initiatives

  • Guides all operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Implements and maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

  • Responsible for all bank/treasury functions, which include approving cash disbursements, handling letters of credit, and debt/covenant reporting

  • Assists in formulating and maintaining the Department budget.

Audit & Controls

  • Manages planning and execution of annual audit by external auditors. This includes making sure audit is completed on time and on budget

  • Manages other external audits including sales tax audits and customer audits.

  • Responsible for statutory reporting requirements.

  • Determines areas of process improvement and makes recommendations related to the development of improved internal accounting systems

  • Assists with preparation of income tax returns, responsible for making sure all tax returns are filed on time

  • Responsible for ensuring that all indirect tax returns are filed timely and oversee audits

  • Responsible for maintaining and developing a strong internal control environment related to accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of reported financial data and safeguarding of Company assets.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures

Leadership & Strategy

  • Works collaboratively across departmental functions and provide support to other business operations related to financial reporting and accounting

  • Develops, leads, and manages the company’s corporate accounting team, including hiring, training, managing performance, as well as identifying resource needs

  • Proactively identifies risks and opportunities in the financial statements and provides management with information vital to the decision-making process

  • Demonstrates strong business acumen, translating financial data into operational insights that inform decisions across the company

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s degree preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including a Controller role.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required; Certified Management Accountant (CMA) may be considered in lieu of CPA.

  • US GAAP proficiency required; multi-entity consolidation and intercompany accounting experience required

  • Experience in industrial services, construction, field services, specialty contracting, or a related project-based industry strongly preferred; familiarity with job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting

Work Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
