THE POSITION
The Clerical Assistant 2 position with the Department of Transportation offers a chance to support important public services every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports several units by completing clerical tasks that help maintain organized and responsive office operations. The role ensures timely communication, accurate records, and dependable customer service. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Reception Support:Answer and assist phone and in person inquiries for the Permits Unit

File Management:Maintain and organize files for hauling and occupancy permits

Document Processing:Type correspondence, reports, and meeting minutes for multiple units
-
Customer Assistance:Help customers resolve issues in the ePermitting System

Mail Handling:Sort, distribute, and manage incoming and outgoing unit mail

Scanning Tasks:Scan permit documents and upload them into Electronic Content Services

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
-
Work hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time upon successful completion of probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
-
Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
-
Graduation from high school; or
-
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements (NSRs):
-
Must possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
-
Must possess the ability to take and transcribe dictation.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
