Role Description

We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Marketing Director to lead marketing for HVAC and Controls across the North America region. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for developing and executing marketing initiatives that generate measurable pipeline and revenue growth and strengthen market positioning. The Marketing Director will work closely with sales, local market P&L leaders and Marketing colleagues to create and activate innovative campaigns.

The ideal candidate will bring deep B2B marketing expertise, strong stakeholder management capability, and a hands-on approach to delivering results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

This role will be responsible for planning and activating marketing campaigns through our 5 core tactics – paid media, organic, digital events, in-person events and SDRs (inside sales). The scope will include marketing products and services in JCI’s conventional HVAC & Controls business across direct (local branches) and indirect (distributors and partners) channels in U.S. and Canada. The role will lead a team of 3-5 direct reports.

Areas of Focus:

Campaign planning. Define audience targeting (ICPs – ideal customer profiles), journeys, campaign briefs, channel mix, and budget allocation. Develop strategies and action plans for lead gen campaigns and partner with Demand Gen/Digital team on execution and lead capture. Plan digital media spend, organic digital approach, in-person events/tradeshows, digital events and Sales Development Representative (SDR) approach.

Campaign activation and measurement. In partnership with Field marketing, execute campaign plans in local markets and across region for HVAC and building automation systems (BAS)/controls portfolios, aligning with long-range business plans and revenue targets. Work closely with Demand Gen team to manage reporting on KPIs.

Sales Collaboration. Ensure alignment between marketing and sales on target accounts, campaigns, and pipeline goals. Improve handoffs between marketing and sales through clear processes and KPIs.

Stakeholder Management. Establish trust with – and influence – senior stakeholders in the P&L and other function including Marketing leadership and Sales/Commercial organization.

Team leadership. Lead and motivate team of 3-5 marketing managers and specialists to design and activate campaigns. Provide coaching, development and mentoring. Develop strategies and action plans to achieve and maintain high engagement as measured by semi-annual colleague survey.

Marketing Team Collaboration. Partner with Field Marketing to develop and support local GTM strategies and tactics. Partner with Product Marketing and Marketing COE to inform on value proposition development, content needs, marketing asset requirements for campaigns, event planning (e.g., subject matter experts) and more.

Budget management. Develop annual plan based on business priorities and maintain up-to-date tracker on actuals vs. outlook.

What we are looking for:

  • Change agent with experience leading marketing transformation

  • Collaborative leader who drives alignment across functions

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across marketing and communications, demand generation/digital marketing, events, and/or marketing operations in B2B.

  • Track record of successfully leading major initiatives that achieve results by building project charters and action plans, managing broad set of stakeholders, driving operational cadence at pace, identifying problems and delivering solutions, and reporting out on KPIs.

  • Track record of owning lead management and campaign programs (digital and events) with measurable pipeline/revenue impact.

  • People leadership experience and agency/vendor management. Ability to develop and motivate a mixed team of FTEs and agency partners.

  • Exceptional organization and project management skills.

  • High comfort level “going to gemba” and engaging with customers and colleagues in the field.

  • Strong familiarity with lead generation management, sales funnel and CRM/Salesforce.

  • Data-driven decision maker with focus on measurable outcomes.

  • High energy that raises enthusiasm level with colleagues.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience in commercial HVAC and/or building automation systems (BAS)

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience leveraging AI to drive effective marketing outcomes and operational efficiency.

  • Track record of working with field sales to implement sales enablement and marketing programs.

  • Familiarity with lean and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., 80/20, Kaizen).

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required

  • Master's degree a plus (Business, Marketing, Communication, etc.)

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $165000 - $210,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
