Job Title: Corn Sorter

Location: Rushville, IN

Job Description

Join a dynamic agricultural team as a Corn Sorter. This role involves sorting corn to ensure high-quality seed production while working in a safe and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Follow lock out/tag out and other equipment safety protocols.

  • Maintain a clean work environment by sweeping and removing debris.

  • Sort corn to ensure the quality of seed by identifying off-type, wet, immature, or damaged ears.

  • Remove discard waste and re-husk corn as necessary, directing them to the appropriate locations.

  • Operate from a standing or elevated seat position in front of a moving conveyor belt.

  • Assist with the kernel cleaning process during material changes.

  • Report any accidents, near misses, safety violations, or hazards to the team leader or supervisor promptly.

  • Participate in incident or accident investigations to determine root causes.

  • Maintain cleanliness in break rooms by cleaning up after yourself.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in assembly line, packaging, general labor, production, or related fields.

  • Ability to work with hands at a quick pace.

  • Capable of standing or sitting for extended periods.

  • Experience with a moving conveyor belt.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of experience standing for an entire shift in a warehouse, landscaping, cleaning, manufacturing, or packing job.

  • Preferred ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols and adherence to them.

  • Understanding of the importance of maintaining a clean work environment.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled, loud environment, requiring ear protection provided on-site. The role involves working Monday to Sunday, 6:00 am to 6:30 pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. Employees are scheduled for six days a week, with the option to work a seventh day. The dress code includes closed-toe shoes, long pants, and short sleeve shirts. Safety eyewear and general attire will be provided. Note potential exposure to plant allergens such as corn dust.

This is a Contract position based out of Rushville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
