SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for patient care related secretarial duties to include: scheduling of appointments, interacting with patients, families, physician and staff, provide real time Admission/Transfer/Discharge communication to registration; and utilization of the Transport Tracker System to retrieve and enter patient information to facilitate ancillary department workflows.

5 North is a dynamic, fast‑paced unit at Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, providing exceptional quality care for patients undergoing orthopedic and spinal surgery. Our team‑oriented environment fosters strong collaboration among all care providers, including RNs, PCAs, Physical Therapists, Surgeons, Physicians, and Case Management. While the unit specializes in orthopedic and spinal surgical patients, it also cares for a diverse range of medical‑surgical patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Six (6) months secretarial and customer service experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

  • Experience in a medical setting preferred.
