Full job description
Employment Type: Full time Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift
Description: FT Nights
The Emergency Department Technician performs a variety of direct patient care procedures assisting the professional staff, physicians, and/or department leadership to provide mission-driven patient centered care focused on meeting the needs of our patients.

Meets the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing care services. Distributes meals and beverages, takes vital signs, collects lab specimens.

Assists with completion of patient testing and treatment procedures, sets up and primes IV tubing, 12-lead ECG, simple tracheostomy suctioning and care, changes dressings, obtains blood specimens utilizing appropriate skin puncture and venipuncture techniques, performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation, obtains wound and throat cultures.

Assists physician and professional staff in equipment supply and set up.

Assists with ambulating patients with assistive devices such as crutches and with transfer/transport procedures.

Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements.

Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

Other department specific duties as assigned.
Position Requirements :
Minimum Education:
Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
Minimum Experience:
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Licensure/Certifications:
Required:
BLS American Heart Association
Preferred:
Licensed EMT Paramedic State of Illinois
Licensed EMT-Basic and/or Paramedic State of Illinois
Other: Completion of an Illinois Department of Health program (CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P)with verification, or the ability to prove an equal or higher level of education in a nursing focused program.
Compensation
Salary Range: $17.30 - $26.81 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
